Abstract

Thioborate glasses were studied by ESR at X-band (9 GHz). Without irradiation of samples, one observes an isotropic and narrow line with g=2.004 in the binary and ternary glasses; its origin is discussed and assigned to a trapped electron on a sulfur atom non-bonded to a boron one. After X-ray irradiation, three signals are detected: an unresolved hyperfine structure (hfs) in a B2S3 glass which is assigned to a BS+ 3/2 center, and two anisotropic signals, the first one being assigned to a sulfur hole center and the second one to an unpaired electron on a S-S bond.
