Zusammenfassung

Folsäuremangelsyndrome und hämatologische Veränderungen sind in ihrem kausalen Zusammenhang sichergestellt. Für neurologische Erkrankungen und Folsäuremangel aber werden ursächliche Zuordnungen noch immer diskutiert. In der Literatur findet man zunehmend Berichte über Einzelfälle und Fallgruppen (Robertson et al. 1971; Pincus et al. 1972; Ahmed 1972; Fehling et al. 1974; Manzoor u. Runcie 1976; Botez et al. 1976, 1977, 1978; Strachan u. Henderson 1967; Freeman et al. 1976). Demenzsyndrome, subakute kombinierte spinale Strangdegenerationen und periphere Neuropathien sind beschrieben. Fälle mit kongenitalen Störungen des Folsäurestoffwechsels kommen vor, entwickeln ausgeprägte neurologisch-psychiatrische Syndrome und geben Hinweise für einen Kausalzusammenhang (Luhby et al. 1961; Lanzowsky et al. 1969; Arakawa 1970; Erbe 1975; Sue 1976).
