Zusammenfassung
Das Kapitel beschäftigt sich mit Mikroorganismen, die häufig als Verursacher von Weichteil-, Gelenk- und periprothetischen Infektionen in Erscheinung treten. Das Kapitel soll kein mikrobiologisches Lehrbuch ersetzen, sondern zum Verständnis solcher Infektionen und deren begünstigende Faktoren beitragen. Ausführungen über die Diagnostik verursachender Mikroorganismen sowie über zelluläre und molekulare Hintergründe bleiben auf das zum Verständnis Erforderliche für den „septischen Unfallchirurgen und Orthopäden“ beschränkt. Auch wenn die Bezeichnung „septischer Unfallchirurg und Orthopäde“ sprachlich nicht ganz zutreffend ist, wird die Bezeichnung in diesem Kapitel einerseits aus Praktikabilitätsgründen verwendet, andererseits aber auch, da es sich um einen durchaus gängigen Begriff handelt. Zelluläre und molekulare Vorgänge werden bewusst so vereinfacht dargestellt, dass sich der Zusammenhang auch für den Praktiker ohne fundiertes Spezialwissen im Bereich Mikrobiologie, Biochemie und Immunologie erschließt. Im allgemeinen Teil werden Grundlagen der Mikrobiologie und der mikrobiologischen Diagnostik dargestellt, während im speziellen Teil auf die Erreger selbst eingegangen werden wird.
