Abstract

DE in Chinese is special in many aspects. It takes various constituents as its complement, while it itself behaves very much like a clitic. On the basis of the previous works, we carried out an investigation of its syntactic features, such as its derivation and cliticization. The syntactic structure of verb copying constructions in V-DE constructions are in fact some adjuncts.
