Abstract
This chapter explores the question whether a child can hold his or her parents legally liable for damage caused by a decision made either during the pregnancy or after the child was born. Can a child demand to be paid a compensation for the damage that their decision has caused? The answer, in short, is ‘no’. In order to receive compensation the child has to prove that the decision made was faulty, which appears to be difficult, for parents have the legal right and the freedom to make a decision based on their beliefs of what is right and wrong. Medical caregivers, on the other hand, are liable for damages caused by their not supplying the parents with full information on risks and choices incurred during and immediately after pregnancy.
