Application-Oriented Intercultural Engineering Education in Automotive Engineering and Service

Abstract

The paper describes how the theory-oriented education principles of China’s universities are combined with the practical-oriented education methods of Germany’s universities of applied sciences in CDHAW (Chinesisch-Deutsche Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften), Tongji University. As one of four majors in CDHAW, Automotive Engineering and Service (AES) translates those theoretical and practical requirements into an integrated new education framework. After seven years implementation, AES, as an emerging inter-discipline gained a good education evaluation from AQAS (Agentur für Qualitätssicherung durch Akkreditierung von Studiengängen) due to its own practical-oriented education model and good educational results.
