A New Strategy for Incremental Maintenance of Cover Quotient Cube

Abstract

By establishing a new strategy for incremental maintenance of cover quotient cube, cover quotient cube is divided into several sub-sets, in determining whether to add or modify operation. With this approach, only some subsets of the cover quotient cube are accessed when there is an incremental maintenance operation. A new algorithm Update Add New is provided with respect to the case when there is new record added to the base table. Experimental results show that the count of records needed to be accessed is only 85% of that with an approach based on full access.
