Abstract
The flora of the Aralkum consists of 368 species belonging to 43 families and 178 genera. It is a young immigration flora (50 years old). Life forms are represented by the following groups: therophytes (41.3%), geophytes (7.3%), hemicryptophytes (21.5%), chamaephytes (9.5%), phanerophytes (microphanerophytes and nanophanerophytes 18.2%) and some hydrophytes. According to geographical analysis, most of the species are connected with the Ancient Mediterranean territory (the eastern part): 33.2% of the species belong to Mediterranean and eastern Mediterranean geoelements. Turanian and Irano-Turanian geoelements constitute 32.1% of the species. The northern Turanian (Kazakhstan) geographical distribution group (including endemics of Kazakhstan) consists of 10.6% of the species. Autochthonic Aral and Aralo-Caspian species represent only a small part of the flora (2.5%). Thus, the Aralkum flora is typical of Turanian deserts, reflecting regional biodiversity.
