Zusammenfassung

The topic of this number of the “Dialectica” for which I am responsible, is the discussion of the idea of complementarity, which has its origin in modern atomic physics. It seems therefore proper that this editorial survey of the connection between the different points of view of the following articles be written from the standpoint of a physicist. The epistemological implications of the concept of complementarity, which was first explicitly used by Bohr, however, reach far beyond a particular science.
