Endoscopic Lumbar Sympathectomy in the Treatment of Hyperhidrosis: Results and Complications

Abstract

In this chapter, the authors present a compilation of their more than 10 years’ experience with endoscopic lumbar sympathectomy (ELS), which they practice in three different countries.

Results regarding complications, quality of life, and satisfaction are presented with different follow-up periods.

ELS is the best option today to treat severe plantar hyperidrosis, with a low morbidity and no mortality in these series.

Complications are minor and, in general, temporary.
