Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Used to Treat Cerebral Palsy

Abstract

Most traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatments for cerebral palsy in children are nonpharmaceutical therapies, such as acupuncture, tui na massage, and medicated baths. Compared with the conventional rehabilitation, acupuncture, tui na, and other therapies are called TCM rehabilitation therapies. Nowadays, all of them are provided as primary medical care for children with cerebral palsy in China. Most patients experience TCM treatment in China. In other countries, TCM therapies are considered complementary treatments for patients with cerebral palsy. However, research should be designed more objectively.
