Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)

Abstract

For treatment of asymptomatic abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) open (OR) and endovascular repair (EVAR) are equally effective with terms of long-term outcome. However, EVAR has replaced OR in a high percentage due to lower perioperative morbidity and mortality, which has shown to be particularly important in patients of advanced age. The registry studies demonstrate that the same statement applies to ruptured AAA.
