Abstract

Environmental pollution is the major problem in developing countries and it is responsible for about 20 % deaths, which is much higher than any other cause (e.g., malnutrition or deadly diseases). The most important environmental problems across the world are listed in Fig. 5.1; they are ranked according to the number of people affected. The link between health and environmental factors had not been properly addressed until recent decades.
