Abstract
The accreditation process plays an important role in the quality assessment and improvement of echocardiography laboratories. The accreditation process will be reviewed along with criticism and changes to the process over time. Many measures of the individual steps in the accreditation process as well as more global measures of quality are included in the standards required for laboratory accreditation through the Intersocietal Commission. This section also provides links to additional sources of information concerning each of these measures.
