Abstract

This chapter is a practical guide for image-guided high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy in gynecologic cancers treated definitively with radiation therapy. It will focus predominantly on the use of intracavitary brachytherapy with either ring and tandem or tandem and ovoid devices since this is the most frequent scenario, but it will also give a brief example of an interstitial implant. It is intended as a practical “checklist,” especially useful for someone who wants to implement his/her practice with a focus in gynecologic oncology. The theoretical background and techniques are discussed extensively elsewhere in this book.
