Breast Brachytherapy: Brachytherapy in the Management of Ipsilateral Breast Tumor Recurrence

Abstract

In this chapter, we present an alternative management of ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence following conservation therapy for early breast cancer. We will present the evidence to date and hope to establish this alternative approach as a plausible option for women affected by in-breast recurrence, but desirous of breast preservation. We discuss this option presenting the established standard of care and the alternatives, as well as the specific concerns related to retreatment.
