Abstract

Chapter on the multiplication of a fraction by an integer There are four cases. First case. Multiplication of several fractions by a digit. (A.90) You want to multiply three fourths by seven. (a) You will do the following. Take of the number from which a fourth is denominated, namely four, three fourths, which is three. Multiply it by seven, thus producing twenty-one. Divide it by four; this gives five and a fourth. Such is three fourths of seven.
