Abstract
The development of nanoscale fertilizers hallmarks the practical insurgence of nanotechnology interventions for agriculture. This can invariably be iterated through the rising research reports on possible effects which get either diverged or transformed on nanoscaling of nutrient elements compared to their bulk forms. The nutritional aspect of elements of plant importance has been known since the pioneer work of Arnon, Stout, and Hoagland in the early 1930s to 1950s. However, the impact of physical state of nutrient particularly the crystallinity status and morphology (shape, size dimensions, and topography) on interaction with soil components, plant, and microbial cells and its role in improved uptake and mobilization/assimilation and distribution inside the crop plant have gained an impetus in the present two decades. This manuscript will provide information on the improvement in the use efficiency of the nano-sized fertilizer nutrient elements, their role in enhancing the agronomic yields, and possibilities of realization through conjugation with precision farming tools and techniques.
