Abstract
The aim of this study is to enhance baggage traceability by integrating Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems into the baggage tracking process in airports. Considering current preoccupations, we present the general concepts and realization & implementation. In the beginning, we present different definitions, Radio Frequency Identification components, operating principle, architecture and advantages. Secondly, we discuss the design and implementation of a traceability system that consists on the one hand of a middleware called BTMiddleware designed for real-time collecting and filtering of a large volume of data transmitted by RFID tags placed on the objects to be identified, on the other hand a mobile application named BagTrac that offers users the ability to follow their luggage from their smartphone.
