Recent Developments of Polymer Bionanocomposites and Bionanoceramics

Abstract

The development of polymer bionanocomposites and bionanoceramics has become a research hotspot in recent decades. Nanomaterials which are widely used as reinforcements in polymer bionanocomposites are nanocellulose. These nanomaterials possess unique and potentially useful properties such as large surface area, lightweight, high tensile strength and stiffness, abundantly available, renewable, and high aspect ratio. Polymer bionanocomposites and bionanoceramics can be developed toward the desired application. This book chapter will focus more in-depth on the preparation of polymer bionanocomposites and bionanoceramics. The characterization of these materials to determine their properties will be also discussed. Furthermore, this book chapter will highlight the applications of these materials as well as new findings and future prospects.
