Abstract
On 11 November 1995 in Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, 17-year-old Veronika Finanger attended a party where moonshine was served. The expression “moonshine” describes a drink with a high-percentage of alcohol that is produced illegally. The term became popular during prohibition in America when distillation was done at night while the moon was shining to avoid discovery. However, its origins are much older. The production of illegal moonshine is typical in countries with any kind of alcohol prohibition. After the party, Veronika got into a car driven by her boyfriend who was drunk. He drove the car off the road, severely injuring Veronika and killing another passenger.
