Abstract
The NOAA polar orbiting spacecraft are launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Californai, by a modified Atlas-E ballistic missile. The Atlas is 28.7 m long and 3.05 m in diameter. The fairing is 7.42 m long and 2.13 m in diameter. At liftoff is carries 69 kl of liquid oxygen and 43 kl of RP-1 fuel, a highly refined kerosene.
