Abstract
• Priapism is defined as a sustained, often painful erection unrelated to sexual stimulation.
• Priapism is idiopathic in 50% but other etiologies such as trauma, hyperviscosity syndromes, sickle cell disease, and drugs are recognized causes.
• Priapism can be classified as low flow (common) or high flow (uncommon).
