Abstract
Trematodes may affect their hosts in a variety of ways: destruction of host tissue and mechanical irritation. Trematodes may bring about a change in the normal blood parameters (anemia, leukocytosis, lymphocytosis, eosinophilia). Wildlife infected with trematodes may show no signs or symptoms of disease or only slight disturbances. The host may show morbidity or the infection may result in death. This chapter presents a review of the characteristic processes of pathology demonstrated by the action of trematodes in selected groups of mammals.
