Abstract

Since the 1960’s the spectrum of drug abusers in America has widened. Opiate abuse and its catalytic effect on crime prevails particularly in the disadvantaged minority subcultures. Marijuana, polydrug, cocaine, and alcohol abuse interact malignantly with the development and health of youth in all classes. Adult misuse of licit and illicit substances is pervasive either for leisure or as aids to living.
