Abstract
The quinolone antibiotic BAY y 3118 is a photochemically labile compound, and irradiation with UV-A light leads to its rapid decomposition. In vivo, following oral drug administration to guinea pigs, irradiation of the animals not only results in a severe local phototoxicity, but also leads to systemic phototoxic reactions [1].
