Abstract

Interest in the prethrombotic state is mainly based on the expectation that it may be possible to detect persons who will develop a myocardial infarction or a stroke in the near future. However, the numerous definitions of the “prethrombotic state” are often generic. In fact, even though the vascular area involved in the atherosclerotic process is the cause of the interaction of the hematic component with the vascular wall which may be seen in alterations of tests, these modifications are too unclear and aspecific to allow them to have a predictive value.
