Compartmentalization of the Intertubular Space in the Human Testis

Abstract

During the last decades the interest of most testicular research was focussed on seminiferous tubules, germ cells, Sertoli cells and Leydig cells. The intertubular space was neglected. That is not surprising, because the tissue in the intertubular space can be preserved by fixation in adequate structure only with difficulty. During the removal of testicular tissue the seminiferous tubules are shifted against each other so that the intertubular tissue disrupts.
