Abstract
As mentioned in the chapter 7, HVAC systems are the major electricity consumers in modern commercial buildings, up to 50% of the total consumption. Therefore, over the years, there have been many applications of artificial intelligence in this area of building systems in order to improve response rate, save energy and reduce life cycle cost. In this chapter, we shall look at knowledge-based design, expert system based maintenance, system identification based control, computer vision based control, neural network based control, static fuzzy logic based and self-learning fuzzy logic based controls etc.
