Abstract

The need to offer the elderly a better inclusion in society after retirement is felt at many different levels: by the old people themselves, in the health care services, in economic programmes and in a new ethical concept of old age (Scortegagna, 1991). Suffering, widely felt experienced by the elderly and expressed as a feeling of marginalization, is an evident sign of poor intervention on their behalf (Marcellini et al., 1989; Anderson and Weber, 1993).
