Electromagnetic Properties of Superconducting Nb3Sn

Abstract

Nb3Sn seems to be a good candidate for accelerator applications because it has a high transition temperature and high critical fields. Therefore its electromagnetic response at X-band frequencies was experimentally investigated under conditions similar to those in potential accelerator applications [1]. The theoretical analysis of these data showed that this Nb3Sn is comparably clean and has reasonable material parameters [2]. A refined analysis is presented in this paper: χ2 fits of the theory to the temperature dependence of the surface impedance.
