Anomalous Scaling Laws of Passive Scalar Intermittency in 3-Dimensional Turbulence

Abstract

Reynolds number and anisotropy effects on the anomalous scaling laws of passive scalar turbulence under a uniform mean scalar gradient are investigated by performing the high resolution direct numerical simulations. The local scaling exponents of high order scalar structure function are computed in the case for ≃ 600 simulation and compared to the preceding lower results. Analysis of the SO(3) decomposition of scalar structure function reveals that the anisotropy effects on the scaling behavior are not significant in the inertial convective range even at the high order statistics.
