Abstract
The productivity benefit of CAD is obtained largely by the ability to reuse previously drawn geometry. To do this, one must be able to select the particular piece of the drawing one wishes to use. Facilities for making the selection are therefore important. The value of a good range of selection methods will be realised once you need to pick up an outline buried in a drawing densely filled with lines and texts all over the place! It is surprising how poor a range of selection techniques is sometimes provided.
