Abstract

Mansfield Park begins the series of three novels which were written after Jane Austen moved to Chawton, and which were published without any extensive later revision.1 According to Cassandra’s Memorandum and Jane Austen’s own note, the novel was begun about February 1811 and was finished soon after June 1813.2 It was published in the middle of the next year.3
