Abstract

This chapter deals with the mechanical structures and mechanisms employed in optical instruments. Apart from the design details, applicable to all instruments and apparatus, and the importance of using standard components, instruments employing lenses, prisms, mirrors, etc., have to meet special requirements. The optical calculations were discussed in Volume 1, Chapter 6.
