Abstract
This chapter goes into the spatial and temporal concepts of geoinformation systems and describes the modelling of 3D/4D objects. The specification of topological relationships for non-primitive geo-objects and temporal state transitions for topological relationships are consolidated. Basis operations for the mapping of state transitions for tetrahedra are given. Concerning the management of spatio-temporal objects the checking of integrity constraints for geological objects and the spatio-temporal database access for large object sets are discussed.
