Abstract.
Infrared observations from the ground can contribute to our understanding of the AGN and related phenomena in various, sometimes unique, ways. The aim of trus brief review is to illustrate this using results obtained at various ESO telescopes, with emphasis on those now coming from ISAAC at the VLT which are of interest both in their own right and as advertisements for the future prospects opened up by this new class of 8m telescope.
