Special Issue: Cloud, IoT and Data Science

Cloud and IoT (Internet of Things) are emerged as new computing platforms which have been used in various domains such as business, finance, transportation, healthcare, and social media, among others. Cloud provides scalable computing and storage resources over the Internet using various provisioning models such as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS). IoT is used to connect and control various physical devices through the Internet such as smart phones, smart TVs, traffic and weather sensors, and various other smart digital devices.

A large number of businesses, enterprises and organisations use cloud and IoT for different purposes and they generate a large volume of (big) data. Data science is a multi-disciplinary field which brings together different methods, models, and tools from different disciplines. The objective is to properly collect, clean, process and analyse data (from cloud & IoT) in order to achieve correct and consistent results and make appropriate decisions in various applications such as businesses, road traffic data, stock market analysis, social media data and so on.

This special issue aims to foster the dissemination of high quality research with new methods, models, theories and practice in order to solve the challenging problems which are related to cloud, IoT and data science. Original research articles are solicited which include (but not limited to), the following topics:

- Design of new models and architectures

- Data cleaning, wrangling and processing

- Challenges in security, privacy and trust

- Performance modelling and evaluation

- Reliability and failures

- Network models and protocols

- Data mining and analytics

- Emerging applications in cloud, IoT and data science

Forms of Submission:

Papers submitted to this special issue must be original and must not be under consideration for publication in any other journal, conference, or workshop. The special issue will consider: (a) high quality papers from open call; b) extended versions of selected papers from the following conferences which must contain significant amount of new material such as new experiments, results, and related work.

The 8th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud-2021), IEEE TCI, (http://www.ficloud.org/2021/) and the 2nd International Conference on Deep Learning, Big Data and Blockchain (Deep-BDB), Springer (http://www.ficloud.org/deep-bdb/2021/), 23-25 August 2021.

All papers submitted to the special issue will go through peer review. Acceptance of the papers will be decided on the outcome of peer reviews. Invited conference papers, that do not receive satisfactory reviews, will not be considered for the special issue.
