Organization of pediatric care

There is great variability in content, organization, provision, and access of pediatric care, sometimes hampering provision of personalized care and leading to unmet care needs. The inability to promptly deploy the right number of health personnel, with the right training and skillsets available at the right place and at the right time to meet population needs, but at an acceptable cost and quality is a key issue negatively affecting the performance of health systems, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. This results in outcomes like poor continuity of care, coordination of care, transition of care, and patient-centered care, eventually harming the quality of care. A strategic and evidence-based approach to the organization of pediatric care is vital to respond to changing health needs, map supply, demand and skills of health workers and adapt them to population needs in the immediate present and future. We invite researchers, practitioners, scholars, and professionals from various (medical) disciplines to submit their original research and contributions to our collection on the organization of pediatric care. With expert insights, practical advice, and evidence-based information, we aim to provide readers with state-of-the-art knowledge on the organization of pediatric care. Please contact us for potential manuscripts for this collection.
