Fish Behavior and Migrations
- Submission status
- Closed
Behavior is one of the most complicated onsets of vital activity of animals, which ensures their plasticity with respect to rapid changes in the environment. Studies of fish behavior are an intrinsic part of research into the general complex of ecological–evolutionary problems. Waterbodies, as an element of the biosphere, have long been influenced by human activity, and in recent times, by profound climate change. As a result, conditions for behavioral adaptations of fish have changed significantly. Conservation of the natural reproduction of many species of fish demands rigorous studies of various aspects of fish ecology, in particular, their migrations. The complexity of fish behavior and migration was the reason for studies by various specialists in different scientific directions.
The main aim of the collection is insight into the results of studying fish behavior and migrations published in the journal in recent years along the following lines of study: migrations and distribution of freshwater and marine fish and lampreys; determination of causes and mechanisms of development of different life histories in fish with respect to studying the structure of their local populations; study of biotic relationships in fish, the role of parasites in regulating fish behavior, rheoreaction and behavior of fish in water flow, thermoregulatory, reproductive, and parental behavior, as well as physiological, biochemical, and other aspects of behavior.
Keywords: behavior, migration, fish distribution, rheoreaction, thermoregulatory behavior, reproductive behavior, parental behavior, physiological basis of behavior
