Queering Family Violence

This collection of papers comprises the articles submitted to the special issue of the Journal of Family Violence which examines different theoretical and methodological aspects of queer family violence. The collection includes qualitative and quantitative studies of IPV, hate crime, and various forms of violence against LGBTQI+ family members in diverse cultural and political contexts. Its main focus is to highlight specifics of familial violence against queer family members and offer new theoretical and practical perspectives on studies of family violence.

Editors

  • Marianna Muravyeva

    Marianna Muravyeva is a Professor of Law at the University of Helsinki. Her interdisciplinary research brings together history, social sciences and law to examine long-term trends and patterns in law, gender and violence. Her main field of interests are human rights of women and LGBTQI+ people, violence against women, and family violence (violence against parents and domestic violence).

  • Alexander Sasha Kondakov

    Alexander Sasha Kondakov is an assistant professor at the School of Sociology, University College Dublin, Ireland. His work is primarily focused on law and sexuality studies, more specifically on queer sexualities. Alexander’s latest research on violence against LGBTQI+ people concluded with an open-access book “Violent Affections: Queer sexuality, techniques of power, and law in Russia.”
