APMBC and ANZMBS joint conference special issue

Call for Full Papers from the 13th Asia-Pacific Marine Biotechnology Conference (13th APMBC) and 5th Australia New Zealand Marine Biotechnology Society Conference (5th ANZMBS) to be published in a SPECIAL ISSUE IN MARINE BIOTECHNOLOGY

Message from Editor-in-Chief of Marine Biotechnology: Prof Zhanjiang (John) Liu Marine Biotechnology publishes high-quality papers in molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, cell biology, biochemistry, and biotechnology. It particularly encourages submissions of papers related to genome biology, such as linkage mapping, QTL analysis, genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of biological and performance traits, physical mapping, and comparative and functional genome analysis of important traits of aquatic organisms and their interactions with the environment. Papers demonstrating applications of state-of-the-art biotechnologies such as genome knockout and knock-in, analysis of three-dimensional genome architecture, genomic and epigenomic regulation in relation to genome expression and biological and performance traits are especially encouraged. Papers on technological development and marine natural products should demonstrate innovation and novel applications.

Message from Conference Chair and Convenor: Professor Wei Zhang The 13th APMBC and 5th ANZMBS conferences combine to engage marine biotechnologists, industry, investors, and policymakers in the Asia-Pacific region's current marine biotechnology research and industry development. Papers are moderated by an international field of experts in Marine Biotechnology. For the first time, the APMBC is held in the Australia/New Zealand region, and the conference is hosted by Flinders University Centre for Marine Bioproducts Development. The program also offers industry, investment, and policy forums to align industry needs and government priorities with productive collaborations and research and development essential for achieving the industry’s full potential. This special issue will cover the following themes: MARINE BIODIVERSITY AND BIODISCOVERY: taxonomy of marine resources, metagenomics of marine ecosystems, chemical ecology and inducible bioactivity.

MARINE BIODISCOVERY: application-oriented marine natural products discovery, symbiosis and bioactive discovery, drug discovery – pharmaceuticals, environmental use- antifouling agents.

AQUACULTURE AND FISHERIES: finfish; molluscs; crustaceans; sea cucumbers; advances in breeding, hatchery and cultivation, combatting disease/immunology; innovations in sustainability: microbiota, new feed, probiotics.

MARINE ECOSYSTEM ENGINEERING AND RESTORATION: marine environmental monitoring and health, bioremediation and biocontrol; ecosystem engineering.

SUSTAINABILITY, BIOSECURITY, AND CLIMATE CHANGE: ocean sustainability and conservation; marine biosecurity, CO2 reduction and sinks by algae, marine parks for CO2 sequestration.

FOOD SECURITY: new and future marine foods, prebiotics and gut microbiomes, functional foods and nutraceuticals.

Deadline for submission of Expression of Interest for full paper: 31 August 2023 Deadline for submission of full paper: 1 March 2024 Expected publication of special issue: December 2024
