Surgery in Geriatrics

The age of patients requiring surgical procedures is continuously increasing. Thus, surgeons are daily called to face with the issue of the trade-off between morbidity and efficacy of surgery in those more fragile patients. The best way to achieve successful results is to counsel these patients addressing their specific expectations, and to improve the selection of surgical candidate. Therefore, good researches specifically tailored to the geriatric population are needed. The collection welcomes: -Original contributions -Meta-analyses -Systematic reviews on the topic of geriatric surgery. The Journal is spread to a transversal readership of clinicians daily engaged with the elderly population, that will surely appreciate your efforts and promote your paper. The peer review process for these articles is the same as the peer review process of the journal in general. Additionally, if the guest editor(s) authors an article in their collection, they will not handle the peer review process.

  • Alessandro Antonelli

    Prof. Alessandro Antonelli is currently Full Professor of Urology and Chair of the Urology Department at the University Hospital of Verona (Italy).His surgical practice is mainly focused on minimally invasive, laparoscopic and robotic approaches, with hundreds of major surgeries already performed. His clinical and scientific interests are uro-oncology (kidney, prostatic and bladder cancers), reconstructive surgery and endometriosis. To date he has published more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed and indexed journals (H-index 28).He has held more than 100 conferences and performed several live surgery demonstrations.

  • Giovanni de Manzoni

    Prof. Giovanni de Manzoni is at present Director of Surgery, Dentistry, Paediatrics and Gynaecology Department of University of Verona, Full Professor of General Surgeon and Chief of Esophagus e Stomach Surgery of AOUI Verona. He is received his Medical Degree and Board Certification in 1986, Board Certification in Emergency Surgery in 1991. President of the International Gastric Cancer Association in 2013-2015 and since june 2015 Editor in Chief of “Gastric Cancer”; partner of the Italian Surgery Society and of the International Society of Esophageal Diseases; Founder of GIRGC (Italian Gastric Cancer Research Group).
