Special Issue by invitation only: Biometeorological Insights from the Students & New Professionals of the ISB, 2023

The Students and New Professionals group of the International Society of Biometeorology aims to support early-career scholars in their academic journey. The special issue Biometeorological Insights from the Students & New Professionals of the ISB, 2023 was announced after the 23rd International Congress of Biometeorology (May 13 – 16, 2023) in Tempe, AZ, with the aim to publish the work presented at the congress or other research that early-career members of the society have authored.

Editors

  • Daniel Vecellio

    Dr. Vecellio is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Virginia Climate Center at George Mason University where he studies the intersection between climate change, extreme heat, health impacts, and public policy. He earned his Ph.D. in Geography from Texas A&M University and previously completed postdoctoral work at Penn State University. He is currently the North American Councilor for the International Society of the Biometeorology and previously held board positions in the Student and New Professionals Group from 2014 - 2023.(e-mail: dvecelli@gmu.edu)

  • Yuliya Dzyuban

    Dr. Dzyuban is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Singapore Management University where she explores heat mitigation strategies for rapidly warming and urbanizing tropical Singapore as part of the Cooling Singapore project. She earned her Ph.D. in Sustainability from Arizona State University where she explored the relationship between urban infrastructure and heat perceptions. Yuliya is currently a Vice President for the International Society of the Biometeorology, and she was a Communications Director for the Students and New Professionals group, and an Asia Councillor for the society for the past triennium.
