Experimental particle physics, tracking detectors and cosmic rays, a legacy of César Lattes

Césare Mansueto Giulio Lattes, best know as Cesar Lattes, was born in the city of Curitiba, Brazil on July, 11, 1924. Cesar Lattes worked on experimental proof of the existence of the meson-pi, a particle predicted by the Japanese physicist Yukawa, responsible for binding protons and neutrons in the nucleus. Lattes' work and reputation paved the way for the development of experimental high-energy physics in Brazil and Latin America. To honor the centenary of the birth of this important Brazilian scientist, we are preparing a special edition of the Brazilian Journal of Physics with invited contributions. The call is also open to the entire scientific community. Manuscripts (6 to 10 pages in BJP format) with unpublished research results, new ideas or review of topics related to cosmic ray physics, experimental physics of elementary particles and tracking detectors can be submitted.

To submit a manuscript to this Special Issue, click at "Submit your manuscript" in the main journal webpage. Then under the "Details" tab, select the collection name in the pull-down menu.
