Since January, 2020, virology has been dominated by SARS-CoV-2 and its effects on human life in general and on human health in particular. Nevertheless, many other viruses continue to cause disease and disruption. The swine industry, especially in East and South-East Asia, has been struck in recent years by several highly pathogenic viruses, such as African Swine Fever, porcine circoviruses and porcine epidemic diarrhea virus. To illustrate the variety of viruses involved, Ana C. Bratanich and William G. Dundon, both editors of Archives of Virology, have selected ten recent publications in Archives of Virology for the open collection below. Clearly, research on porcine viruses will continue to feature strongly in Archives of Virology.
