Non-Equilibrium Gas Microflows

Non-equilibrium gas microflows are of great importance and touch almost every industrial field. They concern a lot of technological applications, e.g. fluidic micro actuators for active control of aerodynamic flows, vacuum generators, flow and temperature micro-sensors, pressure gauges, micro gas analyzers, micro heat-exchangers for cooling of electronic components or for the thermal control of chemical processes and porous media. In non-equilibrium gas transport phenomena, the role played by the interaction between the gas and the solid surface, as well as between the gas molecules, becomes essential and there are still many issues to be resolved in order to advance technological achievements and design optimization. The topical collection is covering every new development on non-equilibrium gas microflows, concerning modelling and simulation, experimental techniques and measurements, as well as associated micro-devices, materials and manufacturing techniques.
