Special Issue on “Highly Reliable Joints between Dissimilar Materials”

Joining of dissimilar materials is one of the key basic technologies for high-end equipment manufacturing, which can maximize the comprehensive performance by combining different materials with unique advantages. However, the difficulties in dissimilar materials joining, including physical mismatch, metallurgical incompatibility and complex interface reaction, present the scientific, technological and engineering challenges in material manufacturing, joint design, welding technologies and application. With the intelligentization, lightweight and integration of high-end equipment, the service environment of key components is becoming increasingly harsh. The traditional single material structure is unable to obtain the required comprehensive performance for the high-end equipment manufacturing, obviously highlighting the importance of highly reliable joining of dissimilar materials. Through the design of new welding materials, innovation of welding technology, optimization of welding structure, and regulation of microstructure and properties, the reliability of dissimilar materials joining can be continuously improved, which further promotes the development of dissimilar materials joining and its demonstration application in high-end equipment manufacturing. To present and summarize the development of new materials, new technologies and new theories in the field of highly reliable joining of dissimilar materials, the editorial board of Journal of Iron and Steel Research International hereby invites the State Key Laboratory of New Brazing Materials and Technology of Zhengzhou Machinery Research Institute Com., Ltd. in China to organize a special issue on the theme of “Highly Reliable Joints between Dissimilar Materials”. The main topics of interest include but are not limited to the following: Brazing, Laser welding, Vacuum electron beam welding, Fricition stir welding, Diffusion welding, Electric resistance welding, Plasma welding, Explosive welding, Electric arc welding. This special issue accepts both original research papers and review papers. All submissions will be subjected to standard peer review procedures.
