In order to consolidate and promote the connection between engineering, surfing and the ocean, this Topical Collection is dedicated to recent advances in research and development in surfing, equipment (surfboards and fins), waves (ocean and wave pool), performance analysis, medicine, sustainability, and interactions between surfers, boards and wetsuits, to name but a few.

    Prof. Marc in het Panhuis is the Director of the Institute for Innovative Materials (IIM) at the University of Wollongong, Australia. He is also the Dean of Sport, implementing the university’s Sport Strategy. Moreover, he is a Professor of Materials Science and Surf Engineering.
