Special Issue in honor of Alexander Andreev

The Journal of Low Temperature Physics will be publishing in the first half of 2024 a special issue commemorating Academician Alexander Andreev who passed away in March 2023. Alexander Andreev was one of the foremost researchers of low-temperature quantum physics since the beginning of the 1960s. He developed much of the present theory of the excitations peculiar to low temperatures in metals, insulators, magnetic systems, liquid and solid helium and on the various interfaces of helium. We envisage that approximately 20 low-temperature physicists will be paying tribute to this work in the Memorial issue. They have been invited to describe recent developments that build on the repercussions of Andreev’s legacy and extend his ideas to new directions. Thus, the Memorial issue illustrates the significance and breadth of Andreev's insight in fostering the massive progress in the low-temperature quantum physics of recent times.
